Graduate Advanced Psychopathology 497

A graduate course designed to provide in-depth coverage into the pathogenesis and clinical presentation of adult mental illness. In addition to covering course material, students learn to lead discussions, provide succinct presentations, and critically view research. In addition, students will publish a letter in a peer review journal.

Research Methods in Schizophrenia 357/497

A cross listed graduate and undergraduate course that will focus on methodologies used in psychosis research.  Each week, students will learn about different modalities such as neuroimaging, TMS, ERP, eye tracking, cognitive testing, and movement assessments, and visit NU labs that are utilizing these tools in ongoing research.  In each section, students will also learn about how these methodologies are being used in a Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) framework to improve our understanding of critical issues in the field of psychosis research.  Neurodevelopment and early psychosis will be a central focus.  Teams including both graduate and undergraduate students will work closely with Dr. Mittal to develop research proposals integrating 2 or more of these modalities to examine an RDoC construct within the context of psychosis.

A large undergraduate course designed to cover a variety of psychiatric disorders/treatments in greater-depth than a prototypical Abnormal Psychology seminar. The course also includes weekly lab section and focuses on in-class exercise and discussion.
